Wampole Bottle

In 1893, William Koch Wampole began his cod liver oil business in Toronto.  Wampole's now makes a wide range of herbal and natural products. What was in this particular 8 3/4" tall bottle I don't know.

Eno's Fruit Salt

Eno's Fruit Salt was invented by James Crossley Eno in the 1850's in Newcastle, England.  It was apparently popular with sick sailors.  It is of course the predecessor to the popular modern stomach remedy, Eno.  This aqua-coloured bottle measures 7" tall, and appears to be an older variant with an uneven lip ring.

Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound

This 8 1/2" tall bottle contained some of Lydia E. Pinham's Vegetable Compound, a popular patent medicine for all manner of "female complaints".  Lydia Pinkham began commercially producing her remedies in 1875, and a year later her elixirs were mass-marketed and widely received.  Apparently her Vegetable Compound became a popular drink during Prohibition times, due to its alcohol content, and even spawned some ribald drinking songs.

Dr. Thompson's Eye Water New London, Conneticut

This 3 3/4" bottle appears to be a later variant of Dr. Thompson's Eye Water, perhaps from the early 1900's ?  Included in this post are some early trade cards advertising this amazing eye ailment cure!

Daddie's Favourite Sauce

This bottle once contained Daddie's Favourite Sauce, a brand of brown sauce sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland.  The company began producing the brown sauce in 1904 and then began to make a line of ketchup as well in the 1930's.  Daddie's Favourite was similar to HP Sauce, but without tamarind or tomatoes.  Today the company is owned by the HJ Heinz Company.

The bottle is almost 5 1/2" tall, and it appears to be an early example with a sheared lip at the top.
