Dr. Peter Fahrney & Sons Forni's Alpenkrauter Blutbeleber Bottle.

This 9" tall bottle contained Forni's Alpenkrauter Blutbeleber, which is roughly translated into Mountain Flower Blood Vitalizer.  Dr. Peter Fahrney began production of this in 1869 and moved his business to an elaborate factory in Chicago in the 1890's.  He and his sons produced this Blutbeleber based on an early family recipe, as well as other patent medicines.

  1. AWESOME! I just found one of these old bottles as I was digging out the top soil behind an old shed that we tore down behind our house. Apparently they just threw out all sorts of trash behind this shed and I just found this little treasure. How fun to add our little bottle of Alpine Herbal Blood Invigorator to the curio of items that have come with this house :-)

  2. That's great! Is your's a smaller size? I got mine in a box of old bottles, but it obviously is a dug bottle as it has a lot of dirt and hazing on it. Godd to hear about your find. Enjoy!

  3. We are remodeling our 1800s farmhouse and found one when the excavation team was digging in the back of the house.

  4. Wow! I would love to live in a house with that much history! My place is from the 1970's, so I don't think I'd find a bottle like this one in the backyard. Is your bottle in good shape? Hopefully you'll find more cool old stuff!

  5. Thanks for the info! I just unearthed this bottle as well. It was behind an old shed at my husbands family's 3rd generation farm in MT. Very cool! 😊

  12. Today I found one also on the back corner of my land. It’s interesting to see such a part of history. These were around for awhile I wonder if the numbers on the bottom date the bottle at all.
